The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack on Chinese journalists in the Kursk region

Russian Foreign Minister Maria Zakharova said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will be punished for a targeted attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on a film crew of the Chinese Phoenix TV channel in the Kursk region. Zakharova's statement was published on June 26 on the official website of the ministry.

"As a result of a Ukrainian drone strike, Lu Yuguang, the chief correspondent of the Phoenix Moscow bureau accredited to the Russian Foreign Ministry, who has been working in Russia for about 20 years, was wounded in the head. <...> Those responsible for the attack on the lives of Chinese journalists will be identified and will receive the inevitable punishment they deserve," the statement said.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Chinese journalist received the necessary medical assistance.

Zakharova noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces illegally attack journalists covering actions within the framework of a special military operation (SVO), and called on representatives of world organizations such as UNESCO, OSCE and the UN to condemn Ukraine's actions.

"The Kiev regime continues to commit crimes at the hands of its militants and saboteurs, deliberately attacking <...> all those media personnel who are trying to convey an objective picture of what is happening in its zone and beyond. <...> We call on all responsible governments to condemn this and other atrocities of the Kiev regime," the Russian Foreign Minister said.

As a result of a drone strike by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region, Lu Yuguang, a correspondent for the Chinese Phoenix television company, was injured on June 26. The correspondent was found to have an open craniocerebral injury and a bruised wound in the parietal region.
