- The Prime Minister of Myanmar announced the country's desire to become an observer at the EAEU

Myanmar is seeking to join the work of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) as an observer. This was announced on June 26 by Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Min Aung Hlaing at the plenary session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
"Let me express my sincere request for support for Myanmar's aspirations to <...> join the EAEU as an observer state," he said.
The Prime Minister of Myanmar stressed that the country intends to expand cooperation with the EAEU member states in the field of economy and trade.
"Despite external economic challenges and sanctions, the EAEU has demonstrated steady progress and achieved significant results in recent years," said Min Aung Hlaing.
Also during the meeting, the special representative of the President of Nicaragua for cooperation with Russia, Laureano Ortega Murillo, said that the country had officially requested observer status in the EAEU.
"We are ready to fulfill all the necessary procedures and requirements so that we can obtain this status. But we already feel like we are part of this union — we are actively working with the Russian Federation and Belarus on major projects in medicine, pharmaceuticals, and the supply of equipment," he stressed.
Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Eurasian Economic Union had been established as a successful integration association. The Russian leader noted that the EAEU has become one of the key centers of global development.
