The administration of US President Donald Trump plans to allocate $3.4 billion in 2026 for the development of a new generation F-47 fighter jet. This was announced on June 26 at the Pentagon at a special briefing for journalists.

"We have made a strategic decision to go all-in on the F-47, requesting $3.4 billion for this program," RIA Novosti quoted a representative of the agency as saying.

The United States also intends to reduce the purchase of fifth-generation F-35 fighter jets in 2026. It is specified that together, 74 aircraft will be purchased only 47. This is due to the minimal production rates.

The Trump administration also plans to increase spending on the development of the US space force to $40 billion in 2026. During the same period, $25 billion will be allocated for the creation of the Golden Dome missile defense system. Another $4 billion will be spent on the development of hypersonic weapons.

In 2026, $13.4 billion will be allocated for the development of unmanned military systems, including land, sea and aerial drones.

On May 6, the Chief of Staff of the US Air Force, David Alvin, announced that the Pentagon was facing a number of tasks related to the renovation and development of military equipment. Work is currently underway to modernize the F-15 and F-35 fighter jets, as well as the B-52 strategic bombers.

Earlier, on March 21, Trump spoke about the development of a new generation fighter jet. According to him, the tests were conducted secretly for five years. The head of the White House said during his speech that the F-47 would demonstrate maneuverability and unsurpassability.
