Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko and Turkish Ambassador to Russia Tanju Bilgic discussed the escalation in the Middle East during the meeting. This was reported on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry on June 26.

"Issues related to the escalation of tension in the Middle East, including in light of the aggression of Israel and the United States against Iran, were discussed," the statement said.

In addition, Moscow and Ankara expressed their mutual commitment to joint efforts in favor of resuming the search for a diplomatic solution "in order to achieve a sustainable and long-term settlement."

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on June 24 that the strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities violated the resolutions of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). According to him, there were no suspicions that led to fears of an allegedly planned Iranian attack on Israel.
