The Russian national team took second place in the team competition at the first International Cybersecurity Olympiad among high School Students, which was held in Singapore. This was reported by the press service of the Central University, which was involved in the preparation of the team together with Kaspersky Lab.

In the final, the Russian team met with 128 schoolchildren from 25 countries. High school students solved problems of increased complexity in cryptography, binary vulnerabilities, web vulnerabilities and reverse engineering, as well as in pentest, steganography and forensics.

The Russian national team won the second place in the team competition thanks to the personal achievements of the participants, three of whom received gold medals, three silver medals, and two bronze medals.

The team was trained online and face-to-face at the Central University. The programs were developed by university experts and implied an individual approach to each member of the national team.

"We are very proud of the excellent results of our guys at the first International Cybersecurity Olympiad. This is the result of hard and long-term teamwork by the students themselves, Central University teachers, and experts from Kaspersky Lab.

The development of the Olympiad movement is one of the key areas of the Central University's work, we try not to lower the bar and achieve heights in several areas already. It's great that we are succeeding in this," said Evgeny Ivashkevich, Rector of the Central University.

According to the results of the General Assembly's vote, Ekaterina Protsko, head of the recruitment of applicants and the Olympiad track of the Central University, joined the International Committee of the Olympiad. She is already a member of the management board of the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) and has extensive experience in creating and hosting both Russian and international Olympiads.

Maxim Smirnov, CTF coach at Central University, head coach of the Russian national team at the first International Cybersecurity Olympiad, joined the scientific and technical committee that will develop the format of the Olympiad and tasks for participants.
