A decision on the admission of Russians as neutral athletes to the 2026 Olympic Games may be taken at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in September. This was announced by IOC President Kirsty Coventry on June 26.
"This is (the decision on the admission of neutral athletes to the Olympics. — Ed.) may be adopted at a meeting of the executive committee in September, or maybe later," Coventry said at a press conference after the meeting of the executive committee, which was broadcast on the IOC YouTube channel.
On June 11, IOC Athletic Director Keith McConnell called for work on allowing Russians to participate in tournaments. He expressed gratitude to those who allowed neutral athletes with Belarusian and Russian passports to participate in the competition.
