Istanbul remains the venue for direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. This was stated on June 26 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, at a briefing.

"We proceed from the fact that Istanbul remains the venue," Zakharova stressed.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry also expressed gratitude to Turkey for its hospitality and continued assistance to the negotiation process.

Zakharova added that the dates of the next round of negotiations will be determined by the heads of delegations.

On the same day, it was reported that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expects to hold a new meeting on the settlement of Ukraine as soon as possible. Ankara is currently in dialogue with the parties to hold a third round of negotiations, Erdogan added. According to him, both Ukraine and Russia have repeatedly shown that they have confidence in Turkey, so we need to use any opportunity that opens up for diplomacy.
