Piotrovsky announced a comprehensive restoration of the Hermitage

The State Hermitage Museum will be comprehensively restored within a few years. Mikhail Piotrovsky, the general director of the museum, told reporters on Thursday, June 26.
He pointed out that the entire complex of Hermitage buildings needs restoration, as it has been many years since it was last done.
"This is a big project for many years, very important, including from a scientific point of view," Piotrovsky said at a press conference at TASS.
According to Sergei Makarov, the Hermitage's deputy director for Construction and Architectural Restoration, it is necessary to restore the facades, several buildings, halls, and parquet floors, which are badly worn. He noted that a special approach will be applied to the renovation of the Hermitage Theater.
"The theater is known throughout the country, and when designing works in it, you need to manage to make sure that it is closed for a minimum amount of time," Makarov said.
Earlier, on June 18, Piotrovsky said that the only way to preserve the historical center of St. Petersburg is to create a second center. He said that there will be skyscrapers and business buildings there.
