- The prosecutor requested 4.5 years in prison for the leader of the Chinese Falun Gong sect

The state prosecution has requested 4.5 years in a general regime penal colony for the leader of the Chinese Falun Gong sect, a member of the Falun Dafa Center for Spiritual and Physical Development (both organizations are banned in the Russian Federation and recognized as extremist) Natalia Minenkova. This was reported on June 26 by a correspondent of Izvestia.
Minenkova was charged with organizing the activities of a foreign or international NGO, whose activities are considered undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation.
The woman is also accused of selling banned extremist literature, including the book "Zhuan Falun" by Li Hongzhi, which is recognized as extremist material.
On December 9 last year, a follower of the Falun Gong sect, which was founded in China in 1992 and subsequently banned in his homeland due to suicides and belief in "miraculous healing," was arrested in Moscow. One of the organizers of the organization's work in Russia was also arrested in Tomsk in November.
