In the Odessa region, four officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) received payments for 60 fictitious military personnel, the so-called "dead souls", the damage from their actions amounted to 7.7 million hryvnias (about $184 thousand), the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine reported on June 26.

"According to the investigation, they issued a fictitious conscription of citizens and received payments and other security. Over 7.7 million hryvnias of budget funds were unreasonably counted for 60 fictitious military personnel, and they sold excess food supplies," the department's Telegram channel says.

It is specified that the former commander of the electronic warfare battalion (EW), his deputy, the deputy commander of the logistics unit and the company commander are suspected of committing the crime.
