A court in the DPR sentenced four Azov militants to 23 and 23.5 years in prison.

The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) sentenced four militants of the Azov special forces unit of the National Guard of Ukraine (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation) to 23 years and 23.5 years in prison in a high-security penal colony for using weapons on residential buildings and the population. This was announced on June 26 by the regional prosecutor's office.

According to the investigation, in March 2022, the defendants fired mortars at private houses of civilians, as a result of which four buildings in the village of Berdyansk in the DPR were damaged.

It is noted that the Ukrainian military Artem Vyshnyaka, Semyon Severin, Sergey Gaikovich and Sergey Samokhval were found guilty under Part 3 of Article 30, paragraphs "a", "b", "e", "w", "l" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted murder"), part 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Intentional damage to other people's property"), as well as Part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code ("Ill-treatment of civilians in the occupied territory, the use of methods prohibited by an international treaty of the Russian Federation in an armed conflict").

On the eve of the Supreme Court of the DPR, Yaroslav Kotlyar, a soldier of the 2nd battalion of the Azov special forces unit, was sentenced to 21 years in prison for the attempted murder of a civilian in Mariupol. It was clarified that he was sentenced to serve his sentence in a high-security penal colony.
