This year marks the 20th anniversary of the revival of the Scarlet Sails holiday. It traces its history back to 1968, when the country celebrated the 265th anniversary of the city on the Neva. After 11 years, the tradition was interrupted and resumed again in 2005 at the initiative of Joint Stock Bank ROSSIYA, the Government of St. Petersburg and Channel Five. Since then, the "Scarlet Sails" have been held annually during the white Nights, except for June 22, the Day of Remembrance and Mourning.
Earlier, Izvestia wrote that a fragment of a sail from the Scarlet Sails holiday would be transferred to the Museum of the World Ocean.
