The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) should fight unfair competition more resolutely in order to provide citizens with high-quality goods at affordable prices. This was announced on June 26 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a cabinet meeting.

"It is necessary to resolutely protect citizens from the consequences of unfair competition, interacting with all market players for this purpose. This will expand people's access to new high—quality and, most importantly, affordable goods," the Prime minister stressed after the report by FAS Head Maxim Shaskolsky.

Mishustin noted that the primary task is to control prices for food, medicines, passenger transportation and communications. According to him, such measures will contribute to an increase in the standard of living in the country.

On March 26, Mishustin named middlemen's margins as one of the main factors driving up food prices. Mishustin stressed that the FAS is closely monitoring the price situation. If necessary, she takes drastic measures. The Head of Government also stated the importance of increasing the level of control more actively.
