Zatulin and Barshchevsky became guests of the Central Channel show on VK Video

Konstantin Zatulin, First deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, and Mikhail Barshchevsky, a government representative in the highest courts, became guests of the new edition of the Central Channel show on VK Video. During the conversation, they discussed Nikol Pashinyan's policy, the situation around Samvel Karapetyan, the operation of the law on foreign agents and possible restrictions in the field of culture.

Zatulin spoke sharply about the current leadership of Armenia and its role in the exodus of the Armenian population from Nagorno-Karabakh.

"Armenia has been living under Pashinyan since 2018, during which time he has achieved great success — he has lost two military conflicts, if, of course, he participated in them. In 2020, Armenia abandoned its compatriots to their fate. In 2023, this happened again, and the result was the exodus of the entire Armenian population from Nagorno—Karabakh," Zatulin said.

Commenting on the case of businessman Samvel Karapetyan, Zatulin compared him to political prisoners of the past and expressed concern about the actions of the Armenian authorities.:

"Throughout our recent history, we have repeatedly demonstrated that a person who suffered for the people ended up in prison, as happened with Samvel Karapetyan today, can come out of this prison as the leader of the nation. He wasn't going to be a politician. He's a wealthy man, and if that's what you can do to him, then people should probably come to the conclusion that nothing is guaranteed to them," he said.

Barshchevsky, for his part, spoke about the permissibility of restrictions in the current foreign policy situation.:

"In a situation where the country is in the situation it is in, any anti—state statements — you can think so - but when your fellow citizens shed blood, then be silent," he said.

He also commented on the law on foreign agents and possible cultural censorship.
