Several countries have already withdrawn from the Ottawa Convention of 1997, which prohibits the use, storage and production of anti-personnel mines. Alexey Chepa, First Deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, recalled this on Thursday, June 26, responding to the decision of Polish deputies to allow the circulation of explosive devices.

According to the parliamentarian, this indicates that they are going to build minefields. He added that this is how the country's authorities explain the increase in contributions to NATO, those structures that participate in military-industrial programs.

The Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling and Transfer of Anti-personnel Mines and on Their Destruction was signed in Oslo in September 1997 and subsequently opened for signature by States in Ottawa in December of the same year.
