- The Iranian Ambassador noted the great potential for the development of economic relations with the EAEU

Iran and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) have a huge potential for developing cooperation. On June 26, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic to Belarus Alireza Sanei told Izvestia.
"There are huge opportunities and great potential between the EAEU and Iran, and through its membership in this organization it will be able to once again — more than before — contribute to the development of relations between our countries," Sanei said at the Eurasian Economic Forum.
According to him, thanks to the agreement on a free trade zone between Iran and the EAEU, many customs tariffs have either been reduced or lifted, which also helps to develop economic relations.
"We have some needs that the EAEU countries can provide. Conversely, we can provide and supply the products that these countries need, and thus help each other develop the economic sector. <...> Our mining industry in Iran is very developed, but we need machinery, heavy machinery. The Republic of Belarus is known as the largest manufacturer of such high—quality equipment," the Ambassador added.
He also said that Iran had planned a visit by President Masoud Pezeshkian to Belarus to participate in a bilateral meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko, but the trip was canceled due to the escalation in the Middle East. Sanei added that Peseshkian's video message will be broadcast at the meeting of the heads of state.
On June 24, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali expressed a common commitment to close coordination to prevent an escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. During the meeting, the parties discussed the escalation of tension over Iran's nuclear program as a result of attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities of the republic under the control of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
