The secondary market of Chinese cars in Russia has grown dramatically

In the first five months of 2025, sales of used passenger cars of Chinese brands increased by 44% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 93.5 thousand units. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this on June 26 in his Telegram channel.
At once, half of the secondary market of Chinese used cars is accounted for by cars under the age of three years inclusive. However, the maximum volume of resales was recorded for cars aged two to three years (29.2%).
"This suggests that many owners of Chinese cars are trying to replace them with new ones before the end of the warranty period," explained Tselikov.
Among the leading brands in the aftermarket of Chinese cars in Russia, Chery is the leader with a share of 22.8%, followed by Geely (19.4%), Haval (13.9%), Lifan (8.1%) and Changan (6%). In the segment of brands from China under the age of three, Geely, Chery, Haval, Changan and Exeed formed the top five. The most popular among them are Haval Jolion, Geely Monjaro, Geely Coolray, Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max and Omoda C5.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that over 2 million Chinese-made cars have been sold in Russia since the start of the special military operation. In the passenger segment, Haval, Chery, Geely, Changan and Omoda were among the top five in terms of sales during this period.
Yesterday it became known that over the past 3.5 years, more than 311.8 thousand new passenger cars have been imported to Russia through the countries of the former USSR. In the first five months of 2025, less than 19,000 cars were imported from the former Soviet Union to Russia, which is 74% less year-on-year.
