The volume of the Russian public cloud services market will double by 2029

The volume of the Russian public cloud services market will double to 801 billion rubles by 2029. This is evidenced by the results of a study of Apple Hills Digital and VK Tech cloud services, which appeared at the disposal of Izvestia.

It is specified that last year the volume of consumption of cloud services in Russia amounted to 392 billion rubles. According to experts, from 2024 to 2029, the total volume of the Russian market will more than double and amount to 801 billion rubles.

Experts have identified public cloud infrastructure (IaaS) among the most dynamically developing market segments, where the average annual growth rate (CAGR) was 29% for the period from 2022 to 2024. PaaS ("platform as a service") is developing more slowly than other segments in the Russian Federation — its share last year was only 9% of the market. According to experts, this is half the share of PaaS in the global market.

At the moment, VK Tech is actively developing VK Cloud into platform services, offering both public and private clouds to the market. According to Lazarenko, it meets the needs of customers and is an alternative to foreign products.

Earlier, in December, it became known from the results of a study by MTS Web Services (MWS) that the cloud services market in Russia grew by 32% in 2024. One of the main trends in the market was the development of AI Cloud, the volume of this segment by the end of the year amounted to at least 80 billion rubles.
