- Rosselkhoznadzor has banned the import of seeds and planting materials from the Netherlands into the Russian Federation

Starting from June 30, 2025, the import of seeds and planting materials of Dutch origin into Russia will be prohibited. This was announced on June 26 on the official website of the Rosselkhoznadzor.
"Starting from June 30, 2025, the Rosselkhoznadzor prohibits the import of seed and planting materials from the Netherlands to Russia. Measures have been taken to preserve phytosanitary well—being and maintain Russia's image as a reliable exporter, as well as to prevent the spread of quarantine facilities in the country," the publication says.
It is clarified that since November 23, 2023, direct supplies of such material from the Netherlands to Russia have already been prohibited.
In June of this year, three cases of infection with quarantine facilities were identified, namely midge and western (California) flower thrips. Such systematic cases confirm the absence of measures aimed at ensuring phytosanitary safety during export.
According to Argus-Phyto, as of June 22, 2025, 9.6 million pieces of planting material and 530.5 tons of seed material of Dutch origin were brought to Russia. In 2024, this figure was 41.6 million units and 671.9 tons.
On May 14, Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, spoke about how food security is ensured in Russia. According to him, despite the difficult epizootic situation in the world in 2025, the situation in Russia remains stable.
