Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant intends to expand and intensify the presence of the UAZ brand in South American countries. In particular, in Venezuela and Nicaragua, representatives of the Ulyanovsk brand told Izvestia on June 26.

The company commented on the words of Alexey Gruzdev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, noting that the organization of the assembly of domestic SUVs in Venezuela is on the agenda.

"There is interest in launching production from both the Venezuelan and our sides. We are currently working on a project for an assembly plant for the production of UAZ cars together with representatives of local enterprises," said a source at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant.

As for Nicaragua, it is a historical market for UAZ, the company noted. The company is currently preparing for the prospective supply of test diesel vehicles for demonstration to local customers.

In April, the large-scale assembly of UAZ vehicles started in Cuba. The planned volume of production of Russian-made cars on the island after the enterprise reaches its design capacity will be up to 500 vehicles per year. The UAZ Patriot and Pickup models, adapted to the climatic and road conditions of the region, were the first to enter the assembly line.

Also, as Nikolai Sobolev, CEO of the Sollers Group, said earlier in the spring, the company can assemble UAZ cars in Africa.

On June 25, it was reported that 8,406 new UAZ cars were sold in Russia in the first five months of this year. This is 33% less than in January—May 2024.
