Director and screenwriter Denis Villeneuve will direct the next James Bond film. This was reported by the New York Post on June 26.

Earlier, producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman claimed that before choosing the next actor to play Bond, they would find a director and develop a script. The choice fell on Denis Villeneuve, "an ardent Bond fan," as the screenwriter himself notes.

"I intend to honor the tradition and open the way for many new missions. It's a huge responsibility, but it's also important...> a great honor," said the French-Canadian director.

According to the newspaper, Villeneuve will also shoot the third part of The Dune film this summer. The first two films have exceeded $1 billion dollars in box office worldwide. In addition, the films were nominated for 15 Academy Awards, in seven of which they won.

A release date for the next Bond film has not yet been announced.

Earlier, on May 15, the star of three James Bond films, American actor Joe Don Baker, died. He died at the age of 89. It was clarified that the actor also played a CIA agent in "Golden Eye" (1995) and the same character in "Tomorrow Never Dies" (1997).
