US President Donald Trump has said that Russia poses no threat to NATO as long as he remains the leader of the United States. This was reported by The Washington Post (WP) on June 26, citing European officials.

"During the main meeting, Trump began with positive words about defense spending and promised that Russia would never attack NATO while he was president," the article says.

According to the sources of the publication, the other leaders praised the efforts of the American president to increase defense spending in Europe.

On June 5, The National Interest magazine dispelled the myth of an alleged threat to NATO from Russia. It was noted that Russia does not intend to attack the states of the alliance due to the fact that the Russian side has no strategic motive in spreading the conflict.

In addition, on June 24, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that NATO was aiming at aggression and confrontation against Russia, as well as following the path of "frenzied militarization."
