- The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation talked about ways to protect large amounts on the card

Due to the large amount of money on a regular debit card, a citizen becomes a target for intruders. This was announced on June 26 by the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
"Online payments are an integral part of our lives: taxis, housing and communal services, and marketplaces are all fast and convenient. But there is also a flip side to the coin: a large amount on a regular debit card makes a citizen a priority target for cybercriminals," the department's Telegram channel said.
In order to protect yourself, you should keep an "operational minimum" on the card. Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs advise using a debit card only for current expenses. The main savings are best kept in savings accounts or deposits, as they are protected by government insurance there.
The agency also advises using virtual cards. They can be created purposefully for specific operations or for a short period of time. In case the data leaks, the main card and savings will be safe.
In addition, you should limit the amount of cash withdrawals and payments for purchases. Such actions can deter intruders, even if they have card details. Instant push notifications will help you quickly respond to suspicious transactions.
UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also advises to create a separate card or account for connected automatic payments and top up only for the required amount. This will help to avoid the risk. At the same time, you should find out how to instantly block the card through the mobile application, which is necessary in case of phone loss or a suspicious transaction.
Earlier, on June 25, the UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that attackers continue to use Apple's blocking scheme by obtaining unauthorized access to iCloud. As part of it, scammers ask you to log in to your account, and after locking the device, they ask for an average of about 10 thousand rubles. At the same time, they threaten to permanently block or delete all data.
