On June 25, Russian basketball player Egor Demin was selected number eight by the Brooklyn Nets at the National Basketball Association (NBA) draft, which took place in New York.

Brooklyn selected 19-year-old Russian Egor Demin as the 8th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft," Sport—Express reports.

This is the first time in the history of the NBA that a Russian player has been selected in the top 10 in the draft. Prior to that, for 20 years, the highest place for Russians in the NBA draft was 12th - basketball player Yaroslav Korolev was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2005.

On June 23, the American club Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Indiana Pacers in the seventh match of the final series of the National Basketball Association playoffs, which was held in the United States. The match ended with a score of 103:91.
