The Polish Sejm on Wednesday, June 25, voted to denounce the Ottawa Convention prohibiting the use, storage and production of anti-personnel mines.

"The bill was supported by 413 deputies. There were 15 against, including nine from the left, three from the Razem group and three from the Civic Coalition. Three deputies abstained from voting," the WNP publication says.

The bill will now be referred to the Senate.

The Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling and Transfer of Anti-personnel Mines and on Their Destruction was signed in Oslo in September 1997 and subsequently opened for signature by States in Ottawa in December of the same year.

Earlier, on June 23, Bloomberg reported that the leaders of Poland and the Baltic states are calling for increased funding for border defense in connection with Russia's alleged destabilizing activities.
