US President Donald Trump said that the Voice of America radio station (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) should stop broadcasting. He wrote about this on his Truth Social network on June 25.

"Why does a Republican want the Democrats' mouthpiece, the Voice of America (VOA), to continue to exist? <...> None of the Republicans should vote for its [radio station's] preservation," the message begins.

Trump accused the radio station of supporting leftist ideas and called for its closure.

Earlier, on March 14, the White House reported that the American leader had signed a decree on reducing the functions and work of employees of several departments to combat bureaucracy, including the USAGM. This agency coordinates the work of US-funded media outlets, including Voice of America. Later, the United States District Court ordered the government to resume the work of the US agency.
