In the Turkish province of Izmir, residents of at least 20 houses in a mountainous area were evacuated due to a powerful forest fire. This was announced on Wednesday, June 25, by the NTV channel.
The fire has spread to the forest area within the boundaries of Foca district due to the wind and has been going on for several hours. Seven planes, 14 helicopters, 24 water carriers and at least six bulldozers were sent to the region to bring the situation under control.
Izmir Provincial Governor Suleiman Elban announced on his Facebook page (ex. Twitter reported that a forest fire engulfed the Foca and Aliaga districts at 12:30 p.m. (local time, coincides with Moscow time).
It is specified that at least two residential buildings were damaged by fire.
On June 2, Sky News reported that more than 25,000 residents of the Canadian provinces of Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan had already left their homes as a result of ongoing forest fires. Due to the dry weather, fires cannot be extinguished, specialists from other regions of Canada have been sent to help local firefighters.
