A criminal case has been opened in Dagestan under the article on the provision of services that do not meet the safety requirements of life after an elevator fell with people in Makhachkala. This was reported on June 25 in the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region.

"The Investigative Department for the Leninsky district of Makhachkala <...> has opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life or health of consumers)," the department wrote on its Telegram channel.

It is reported that the necessary actions are currently being carried out in order to consolidate the evidence.

Earlier that day, an elevator with people in one of the multi-storey buildings fell in Makhachkala. The Dagestan Prosecutor's Office has organized an investigation into the incident. The Ministry of Health of the Republic reported that five people, including one child, were injured when the elevator fell.
