The beds of two rivers will be cleared in the Uglegorsky district of Sakhalin

In 2025, the Uglegorki and Lesogorki riverbeds will be cleared in the Uglegorki district of the Sakhalin Region. This is reported by SakhalinMedia news agency with reference to the press service of the mayor's office of the district.

On the Lesogorka River, work will take place in the area of the bridge on the 38th km of the Shakhtersk – Boshnyakovo airport highway. By the end of August, the contractor will remove trees and shrubs under the bridge and perform dredging work. A bypass road is being set up for motorists during the work.

At Uglegorka, clearing is planned on a 600 m long section in the area of filtration facilities. Specialists will clear the riverbed of vegetation, as well as carry out work on the layout of the bottom and slopes, and the construction of access roads. The Coal Mine is scheduled to be cleared by December 22.

It is noted that the clearing of riverbeds will prevent congestion from driftwood and ice, possible during flood periods.

At the end of May, it was reported that off the coast of the northern part of Korsakov in the waters of the Sea of Okhotsk, work began on the elimination of sunken ships. In total, 11 vessels are planned to be raised from the bottom and disposed of in 2025-2026.
