- Ulyanov pointed to a violation of the NPT due to attempts to ban Iran from enriching uranium.

The US attempts to ban Iran from enriching uranium violate the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and are absolutely contrary to common sense. This was announced on June 25 by Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna.
"The current US administration is literally obsessed with banning uranium enrichment in Iran. This goes against the NPT and basic common sense," the diplomat said in his Telegram channel.
Ulyanov noted that there is nothing wrong with uranium enrichment if this process is controlled by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
"Washington is demonstrating an extremely ideologized approach, which is fraught with a constant threat to international peace and security," the Russian permanent representative said.
On June 24, Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, pointed out that the United States and Israel had violated the charters of the IAEA and the United Nations by their actions in Iran. He stressed that the operations of the United States and Israel pose a threat to the authority of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, which guarantees Iran the right to use atomic energy for peaceful purposes, including conducting uranium enrichment activities.
