- Journalist Hersh reported on the US plans to destroy the facility at Fordo under Biden

Washington began exploring the possibility of destroying the Iranian nuclear facility at Fordo under former President Joe Biden. This was stated on June 25 in an article by American investigative journalist Seymour Hersh.
"I have been informed that the destruction of Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium at the Ford facility, an isolated base hidden in a mountain 190 km south of Tehran, has been at the top of the list of goals of the US and Israeli governments since the end of the Biden presidency," Hersh said in a blog post.
The journalist noted that the Israeli government wanted to destroy both the warehouse at the facility and the high-tech centrifuges that rotate at a depth of 80-90 m underground.
"The White House team, which worked closely with the Israelis, puzzled over this task in the early months of the Trump administration. All participants agreed with the Israeli position: Fordo must be eliminated," the article says.
However, the calculations have shown that even the most modern ammunition available to the US military does not have enough impact force to reach the required depth.: they will stop 20 m from the target. Then another solution appeared: to hit all the entrances and ventilation shafts of the Ford in order to completely isolate it.
Simply put, instead of an unlikely attack on the nuclear complex, Iran's centrifuges and uranium reserves should have been simply "sealed" under the rubble.
Thus, the current US attack was carried out exactly like this: not a single bomb was supposed to get into the uranium storage or centrifuges. The purpose of the attack was to isolate the facility, which was accomplished, Hersh noted.
Earlier in the day, CNN reported that the US strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities had not caused significant damage to the main components of Iran's nuclear program and had only suspended work on it for several months, contrary to the statements of the American government. It is specified that the analysis of the damage caused to Iran's nuclear facilities continues.
