- The ex-president of Armenia predicted the defeat of Pashinyan in the conflict with the church

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will lose in the conflict he has unleashed against the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC). This was stated by the first President of the Republic Levon Ter-Petrosyan at a meeting with Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II on June 25, and information about the meeting was published on social networks by Presidential press Secretary Arman Musinyan.
"He shamefully lost in Nagorno—Karabakh, and he will lose in the war declared by the Armenian Church," Sputnik Armenia agency quoted Musinyan as saying.
At a meeting with the Catholicos, Ter-Petrosyan called Pashinyan the personification of defeat, adds "Газета.Ru ".
In addition, the politician and the clergyman believe that the prosecution of businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, the head of the Tashir Group of companies, could not have been organized on the basis of his statements in support of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Karapetyan's detention became known on June 18. On the same day, he was charged with calling for the seizure of power in Armenia and arrested for two months. After that, protesters began to gather in the streets in support of the philanthropist. Armenian politician Arman Abovyan called the businessman's detention an attempt to weaken the influence of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on June 20 that Russia was closely monitoring Karapetyan's case. According to him, if necessary, Russia will be ready to provide him with all necessary assistance.
