Gunmen kill 17 soldiers during attacks in northern Nigeria

At least 17 soldiers have been killed in northern Nigeria as a result of attacks by armed gangs on three military bases. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on June 25.
"The militants carried out surprise attacks on the army's forward operating bases in the Kwanar Doutse Mariga and Boka districts in Niger State, as well as on another base in the neighboring Kaduna State," the publication said.
It is reported that heavy ammunition was used for the attacks. All 17 soldiers died at the Qanar Dutse Mariga base.
The agency emphasizes that attacks on bases and kidnappings of people by armed groups for ransom have become a frequent occurrence in northwestern Nigeria.
On April 25, at least 20 people were killed in a militant attack on a village in northwestern Nigeria. It was clarified that hundreds of armed men opened fire on the miners, after which a shootout took place in the village of Gobirava-Chali in the Maru local Government area of Zamfara State.
