US President Donald Trump called sarcasm his words that he would be able to end the armed conflict in Ukraine in the first 24 hours of his presidential term. He stated this on June 25, speaking at the NATO summit in The Hague.

"Of course, it was sarcasm," Trump said, recalling promises during his election campaign.

According to him, solving the Ukrainian issue is "more difficult than people can imagine."

"And it's more complicated than other conflicts," Trump said.

On March 7, the White House special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, said that the US president had promised to end the conflict in Ukraine in 24 hours, but did not say on which day.
