Russian chess player Maxim Ivannikov, who defeated Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen in the Title Tuesday online tournament, shared his impressions of the triumph with Izvestia on Wednesday, June 25.

"At first I was happy, but I couldn't believe that I had won against Magnus," said the 15-year-old athlete.

According to the chess player, at some point the grandmaster made a mistake, and the initiative passed to him.

"I already felt that my position was better, then it was just a matter of implementing [the plan]," Ivannikov concluded.
