Law enforcement officers detained the rector of Dagestan State Agrarian University while accepting a bribe for help in admission to the university. This was announced on June 25 by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic.

It is clarified that the rector and the administration staff of the educational institution received illegal remuneration for resolving issues related to admission to study and passing the session. The attackers also embezzled funds allocated to the university.

According to police, the university staff was arrested on June 24 red-handed while receiving money for help in enrolling in an educational institution. During the search, law enforcement officers found over 5 million rubles with notes from students about the purpose of the money — for the completion of the session, transfer to an individual study schedule and for admission to study.

"The issue of initiating a criminal case is being resolved. The actions of the suspects show signs of a crime under Part 5 of Article 290 and Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the agency's publication on the Telegram channel says.

Earlier, on April 30, in St. Petersburg, about 30 students of the State Pediatric Medical University (SPbGMU) were involved in investigative measures in the case of bribes. It was clarified that the teachers of the educational institution are suspected of selling grades.
