The NATO summit in The Hague demonstrated a change in the alliance's policy under the influence of US President Donald Trump. This was announced on June 25 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"There has been a big turnaround in the world and NATO since last year. With the advent of President Trump, new wars are getting shorter, and old ones are losing momentum," Orban wrote on his Facebook page (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

The Hungarian Prime Minister also noted that the summit did not discuss Ukraine's accession to NATO, but the strengthening of the North Atlantic Alliance. This, in his opinion, reflects a change in the global approach under the influence of the new political reality.

The day before, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that the NATO countries had shown common sense by excluding the issue of Ukraine's accession to the alliance from the agenda. He also noted that the NATO summit in The Hague is the first since 2022, where the focus is not on strengthening support for Ukraine.
