Two suspects of desecrating the Victory Banner were detained in St. Petersburg.

Two teenagers were detained in St. Petersburg on suspicion of desecrating the Victory Banner. This was reported on June 25 in the Telegram channel of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the city.

"They turned out to be 16 and 18-year-old locals. They will be charged in the near future, and the issue will be resolved as soon as possible," the report says.

According to the agency, at the moment, investigative measures are continuing to establish the circumstances of the crime.

It is specified that on June 22, on Tankman Khrustytsky Street, several young men tore down the Victory Banner from the building. One of them was identified. During searches of his apartment, law enforcement agencies found a damaged banner.

A criminal case was opened into the incident in accordance with Part 3 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Desecration of the symbol of military glory of Russia").

Earlier, on May 11, it was reported that the Russian Investigative Committee would conduct an investigation into the desecration of the flag with the St. George ribbon by two minors in Obninsk. It is specified that the parents of the children have only recently received Russian citizenship.
