- Patrushev reported a 2.5-fold reduction in the area of wildfires over the past month

Over the past month, the area of wildfires in Russia has decreased by 2.5 times. This was announced on June 25 by Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, at a meeting on the passage of the flood period and the fire season.
According to him, the spring flood this year passed without significant damage to settlements and economic facilities. The Deputy Prime Minister noted the well-coordinated work of federal agencies and regions and stressed that the Russian government had allocated 6.5 billion rubles for the organization of preventive measures. The funds were also used to strengthen coastlines, clear riverbeds and scaffolding spaces.
Despite the favorable situation with the passage of the spring flood period, a number of water bodies in the Urals, Siberia and the Far East still have a fairly high water level. In this regard, Rosvodresursy, together with the regions, will continue to constantly monitor the hydrological situation, and if necessary, the operation of reservoirs will be adjusted. Patrushev also instructed during the meetings of the headquarters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia and the regions to regularly consider the issues of rapidly developing floods characteristic of the territories of the Far Eastern, North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts.
"The situation with wildfires has been developing uneasily since the beginning of the season, but at the moment it is generally stabilizing. About 20 billion rubles are provided for the implementation of measures to protect forests from fires in 2025, which is significantly more than a year earlier. Thanks to the systematic measures taken at the level of the Russian Government, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other responsible departments, the timely deployment of forces and, of course, the heroic efforts of firefighters, the total area of fires has decreased by two and a half times in the last month alone. And now the figure for the country is less than 300 thousand hectares, although a month ago it exceeded 800 thousand," he said.
Patrushev stressed that the federal authorities had taken maximum measures to qualitatively influence the situation. In preparation for the fire season, the government allocated 1.8 billion rubles to the Trans—Baikal Territory, including an additional 800 million to build up forces and resources. In addition, a new forest fire center has been operating in the region since the beginning of 2025.
"The peak of the fire season has not passed yet. Thus, the risks remain. Constant monitoring is needed primarily in the regions of the Far East and Siberia, where dry weather and thunderstorm activity are observed. It is necessary to arrange the work in such a way as to ensure the prompt detection of foci and to attract the necessary forces and resources in a timely manner. The goal is to extinguish at least 80% of fires on the first day. In this case, this is the key to efficiency," Dmitry Patrushev said.
Following the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister instructed federal agencies to continue providing all necessary assistance to the regions. He also drew the attention of the heads of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation to the need to monitor the development of the fire situation and strengthen monitoring aimed at rapid detection of fires and their elimination on the first day.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of monitoring the situation in hard-to-reach areas to identify fires before they become large-scale. Patrushev separately drew attention to the effectiveness of existing measures for the work of the special headquarters for the prevention of wildfires at the level of the Central Federal District (CFD).
On June 23, it was reported that 10 forest fires with a total area of 2.1 hectares had been eliminated in Buryatia, and the area of active ignition in the region currently stands at 49.4 g.
