The Russian government has expanded the list of serious illnesses that may hinder the detention of citizens. This was announced by the government's press service on June 25.

"New positions have been added to the list of serious illnesses that prevent the detention of suspects or accused. The decree on this has been signed," RIA Novosti reports.

It is specified that the new list was formed on the basis of recommendations of the Ministry of Health, the Commissioner for Human Rights, the Human Rights Council and the Public Chamber. The group of diseases is proposed to include blood diseases, congenital anomalies (malformations), deformities and chromosomal abnormalities, pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.

It is indicated that the changes should ensure respect for the rights of people with serious illnesses who have not yet been found guilty of a crime.

Earlier, on May 21, the head of the Ministry of Justice Konstantin Chuychenko said that the protection of moral values could be the basis for the termination of the criminal case. The Minister stressed that morality must be embodied in law.
