In the Khiloksky district of the Trans-Baikal Territory, where a large forest fire continues to operate, an additional mineralized strip with a length of 15 km will be laid. The governor of the region, Alexander Osipov, announced this in his Telegram channel.

"Over the past few days, five edges of the fire have been almost completely extinguished in the Khilok district. But two more continue to burn. We decided to make an additional mine lane for 15 km, surround the fire in a ring," said the head of Transbaikalia.

The fire is being extinguished by about 500 forest firefighters, and almost 40 pieces of equipment are also involved. According to ChitaMedia news agency, employees of the Zabaikalleskhoz and Aviation Security, as well as federal forces and means from Buryatia, Yakutia, Mari El, Tuva, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Khakassia, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Karelia, Primorye, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Arkhangelsk and Sverdlovsk regions are taking part in the elimination of fires.

A special fire protection regime continues to operate throughout the Trans-Baikal Territory, as well as the federal emergency regime in forests. The ban on visiting forests has been extended until July 10.

Earlier in June, the head of the Federal Forestry Agency, Ivan Advisers, in an interview with Izvestia at SPIEF 2025, said that the difficult fire situation in Transbaikalia and Buryatia was due to a combination of weather and human factors. Of the 3 million hectares of land covered by fire in the spring, more than 2.7 million were in Transbaikalia.
