In January – April 2025, Russian producers produced over half a million tons of pasta, which is 3% more than in the same period last year. This was announced on June 25 by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.

"The volume growth allows not only to fully supply the consumer market, but also contributes to the development of exports. Thus, in four months, the supply of pasta abroad increased by 32% in value and by 16% in physical terms compared to the same period in 2024," the ministry said.

According to Sergey Nemirovsky, Executive Director of the National Pasta Manufacturers Association, durum wheat production accounts for almost half of the total volume. At the same time, over the past three years, its output has increased by about 1.5 times, due to an increase in gross yields of this type of wheat.

According to Rosstat, in 2024, its harvest amounted to 2.1 million tons (an increase of 0.6 million tons by 2023), and the acreage increased by 300 thousand hectares and reached about 1.2 million hectares.

According to the forecasts of the association, the growth of pasta production in the future may amount to 1-2% annually. At the same time, the redistribution between segments within the product group will continue — the share of durum wheat products will increase, which is associated with the trend towards a healthy lifestyle and a rational diet.

On June 3, it was reported that the area under cultivation for potatoes will grow to 290 thousand hectares. It was also clarified that farmers will start harvesting early potatoes in large quantities from mid-June. Lower prices on the market can be expected in July.
