14 people were detained in Armenia as part of a criminal case on an "attempt to seize power." This was reported on June 25 in the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the republic.
"Based on the investigator's request, the supervising prosecutor has decided to institute public criminal prosecution against 16 individuals <...>. At the moment, 14 people have been detained based on the investigator's decisions," the publication says on the website.
In addition, more than 90 searches were conducted. During them, a list of persons was found who were to be appointed to the relevant executive positions in the event of a successful coup.
Earlier in the day, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that the country's law enforcement agencies had managed to prevent a large-scale plan to seize power. The state's Investigative Committee has accused Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan and his supporters of terrorism with the aim of seizing power. He was later detained.
