Wild animals in Yamal vaccinated against rabies

The first stage of rabies vaccination of wild animals has been completed in Yamal. 4,000 doses of oral vaccine were distributed in key districts of the district, half of the volume planned for 2025, the press service of the Yamalo—Nenets Autonomous District Veterinary Department reported on Wednesday, June 25.
So, last weekend, veterinarians, together with bioresource protection officers, worked in the Priuralsky district. The drug was distributed along the Salekhard—Nadym road, in the vicinity of Kharsaim, Pelvozha, Gornoknyazevsk, Obskoi and Kharpa stations, and in the Ingilor Nature Park. The next stage will be held in the fall.
The vaccine consists of edible bait briquettes and is safe for carnivorous animals. After eating, wild animals develop immunity to the virus for a period of one year. This method allows you to protect not only forest dwellers from a dangerous disease, but also reduce the risk of transmission of infection to pets and humans.
According to the <url> news agency, vaccination covers the canid family, including foxes and arctic foxes. These animals are the main carriers of rabies.
Earlier, Izvestia wrote that the share of domestic veterinary vaccines in the Russian market has reached a record volume — in 2024 it exceeded 67%. Over the year, the growth was about 15%. There is no shortage of vaccines for the most common and economically significant infectious diseases of animals in the country.
