Unexploded ordnance exploded due to grass fire in Transbaikalia


In the Karymsky district in Transbaikalia, an explosion of unexploded ordnance occurred due to a grass fire. This was announced on June 25 by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
"In Transbaikalia, a grass fire occurred at a former ammunition storage base, as a result of the fire, unexploded ordnance detonated in a field," the message says.
Engineering equipment and a paramilitary fire brigade are working at the scene. In total, 25 people and 8 pieces of equipment are involved in extinguishing the fire.
Earlier, on May 27, in the Astrakhan region, dry grass caught fire in a garden association, as a result, the fire spread to 27 houses and other buildings. Then the police cordoned off the scene for the passage of fire equipment. Later, on May 28, an IL-76 aircraft with a spillway device arrived in the region to extinguish a fire in the Volga region.
