Lavrov pointed to the important role of the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan in the implementation of the North–South project

Russia and Turkmenistan will play an important role in the implementation of the North–South International Transport Corridor (ITC) projects. This was announced to journalists on June 25 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov following a meeting with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

According to the Russian Foreign Minister, there are a number of issues on the agenda that require substantive attention, including projects within the framework of the newly created ITC.

"Russia and Turkmenistan will play an important role in the implementation of this truly promising initiative, which will significantly strengthen the position of our entire region in terms of logistics and the development of the Eurasian continent," Lavrov stressed.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Foreign Minister laid flowers at the memorial complex "National Memory" in Ashgabat.
