Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump discussed the conflict in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East during a meeting at the NATO summit in The Hague. This was announced on June 24 by Erdogan's office on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

"During the meeting, the relations between Turkey and the United States, regional and global issues were discussed. President Erdogan welcomed the cease—fire between Israel and Iran, achieved thanks to the efforts of the US president, and wished it to be permanent," the statement said.

It is reported that during the conversation, the topics of eliminating the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, as well as resolving the conflict in Ukraine, were raised. The Turkish leader pointed out the importance of dialogue in resolving these situations.

Erdogan also noted the potential in U.S.-Turkey relations in the field of energy and investment. He said that the development of cooperation in the field of defense industry can help achieve the target of total trade between the countries of $ 100 billion.

On June 15, Erdogan called negotiations the only way to resolve the Iranian issue. The Turkish leader expressed the opinion that the conflicts that began with the Israeli attack on Iran pose a great danger to the region.

On the same day, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, during a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, also called negotiations the only way to resolve the issue of Iran's nuclear program.
