Russian Stanley Cup winner and Olympic champion Alexander Mogilny will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2025. This was announced on June 24 in a press release published on the organization's website.

"I am happy to be a part of such a great organization as the Hockey Hall of Fame. I want to thank my teammates from Russia and the NHL (National Hockey League — Ed.) for helping me achieve this honor," Mogilny is quoted as saying in the publication.

It is noted that the Russian player made his NHL debut on October 5, 1989, as a member of the Buffalo club. In the same team, he was the leader in performance in the 1994-95 season. The hockey player also played for Vancouver and New Jersey and Toronto.

Mogilny won the World Championship in 1989 and the gold medal at the Winter Olympics in 1988.

Earlier, on April 6, Russian player Alexander Ovechkin scored his 895th goal in the National Hockey League regular season against the New York Islanders, breaking the record of four-time Stanley Cup winner Wayne Gretzky.

On May 9, he also played his 158th career Stanley Cup game, surpassing the achievement of former Detroit Red Wings player Pavel Datsyuk (157) and taking fourth place among Russian hockey players in this indicator.
