- The media reported on the EU's intention to respond in the event of the introduction of US duties.

The countries of the European Union (EU) are preparing to take retaliatory measures if the United States imposes duties on goods from Europe. This was reported by Bloomberg on June 25.
"The European Union plans to impose retaliatory duties on imports from the United States, including Boeing aircraft, if President Donald Trump, as many expect, imposes a basic duty on goods from the bloc," the media notes.
EU officials expect the US to maintain some duties even after the end of trade negotiations. They are currently preparing a retaliatory list of tariffs on €95 billion worth of American goods. However, it may change depending on the proposals of the Member States and industries. The European Union estimates that U.S. duties cover 380 billion euros ($439 billion), or about 70% of its exports to the United States.
"The United States has already imposed duties on European cars, as well as on steel and aluminum. Trump also announced that the United States is working to expand duties to other sectors, including pharmaceuticals, semiconductors and commercial aircraft," Bloomberg said.
On June 16, Reuters, citing the German newspaper Handelsblatt, reported that the European Commission (EC) is ready to accept fixed US duties of 10% to prevent a trade conflict with Washington, but under certain conditions. It was clarified that the decision was made in connection with Trump's intention to rely on some revenue from tariffs to finance tax cuts.
