WP has learned about NATO's attempts to keep Trump and Zelensky at a distance

The organizers of the NATO summit are trying to keep US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky at a distance. This was reported by The Washington Post (WP) on June 24.
On his way to The Hague, Trump told reporters that he would "probably" meet with Zelensky on the sidelines of the summit, although NATO representatives try to keep them at a distance from each other in public, which is a recognition of Trump's sometimes violent contempt for the Ukrainian leader.
Alexander Merezhko, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation, stressed that Ukrainian allies among NATO member countries understand the sensitivity of the situation and are trying to do everything possible to ensure Kiev's presence at the summit, while avoiding opposition to Trump.
Earlier in the day, The Guardian newspaper reported that the NATO summit would be a symbolic victory for Trump, but at the same time would shift the focus from the Ukrainian conflict. It was clarified that the US president's complacency would be affected, among other things, by the recent strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities and the mediation of a cease-fire between Israel and Iran.
